Curtains and Drapes in Auckland

One visit, one installer, one warranty: curtains and blinds for your new build, measured by both owners.

Moving in with bare windows is the part of a new build nobody plans for. We measure, supply and install made-to-measure curtains and drapes in Auckland alongside your roller blinds, from one visit with one company.

Book a free measure and quote: call 09 441 9455. It's a home visit with samples and no obligation, and if we're measuring your blinds, we measure the curtains at the same time.

Or call 09 441 9455. Mon to Fri, 8:00am to 4:30pm.

Do you do curtains as well as blinds? Yes, from the same measure

The usual way to get curtains and blinds in Auckland is two companies, one for each, with you in the middle chasing both. It's more hassle than people expect, and the living room can sit with bare glass while the second lot catches up.

One visit with us replaces that:

  • One measure for every window, curtains and blinds together

  • Samples for both, side by side in your own light

  • One installer for everything, and we aim to fit it all on one day

  • One warranty and one number to call afterwards

We also do curtains on their own, for a refurbishment or a few tired rooms.

Sheer, light filtering and blockout curtains

A new house echoes until the windows are dressed. Curtains are usually what takes the edge off, and they can do it with less fabric than you might think.

If you're worried curtains will make a modern room feel heavy, there are lighter ways to get privacy by day and darkness at night than heavy drapes on every window.

Every curtain we supply is made to measure for your window, your drop and your track. We keep the fabric range short on purpose, so you choose from a few samples you can hold up in your own light.

Sheer curtains

Sheer curtains soften daylight and give you privacy by day while keeping the view. If you're after sheer curtains in Auckland for a new build, start with the living areas, because that's where most of the glass is.

Light filtering curtains

A light filtering curtain uses a slightly heavier fabric. Light still comes through, but the detail behind it doesn't, so it suits rooms where you want a soft glow and a bit more privacy than a sheer gives.

Blockout curtains and drapes

Blockout curtains darken a room properly. Hung floor to ceiling, they also hold the warmth in overnight, which is the difference you feel on a cold morning.

Sheer and blockout together

This is how most curtains in NZ homes are hung: a sheer and a blockout on a double track. The sheer stays closed by day and you draw the blockout at night, so nothing heavy sits across the glass all day.

A blockout roller blind with a floor-to-ceiling sheer

For the softness of curtains with even less fabric, we fit a blockout roller blind in the window opening and hang a floor-to-ceiling sheer in front. The blind does the darkening and the sheer gives the finished look.

It's less common in New Zealand, but it suits a modern room well.

Curtains or roller blinds for a bedroom?

We supply both, so you'll get a straight answer for each room.

Roman, one of our two owners, is firm on this: floor-to-ceiling curtains are still the best way to darken a bedroom and keep it warm, especially behind single glazing. If you've got a bedroom that's cold in winter and bright at dawn, that's the fix.

It's also the warmth people are after when they look up thermal curtains in NZ. Most of it comes from the full drop and a close fit, not the fabric.

Room by room:

  • Floor-to-ceiling blockout curtains where you want it dark and warm

  • Roller blinds for smaller windows and anyone who wants a clean line

  • Both in one room: a blockout roller blind for sleep and a sheer for softness

  • Windows where curtains won't suit: we'll say so and suggest a roller or Roman blind instead

Why curtains need a careful measure

A roller blind mostly depends on the window opening. A made-to-measure curtain depends on four things being right:

  • The drop: where the curtain meets the floor

  • The width: how much fabric covers the glass

  • The track position: where the curtain hangs from

  • The stack: where the fabric gathers when the curtain is open

Then the room has its say. Skirting boards, power points, heat pumps, ceiling height and a door that swings nearby can all move the track or change how far the curtain falls.

A few centimetres out and the fabric hangs wrong. You'll see it every day.

That's why both owners, David and Roman, measure every curtain job, and Roman leads the install. If something's out once it's hung, we come back and put it right under the warranty.

We bring the showroom to your home, with fabric samples you can hold against your own walls, because colour and weight look different in your light. Your quote comes from that measure, which is why we can't price curtains from sizes over the phone.

Book the measure: call 09 441 9455.

How long do curtains take?

  • Curtains: 4 to 5 weeks from deposit to install

  • Roller blinds in the same order: 3 to 4 weeks

  • Blinds and curtains ordered together: we aim to fit both on the same day, once the curtains are ready

You get a date up front, and we tell you straight away if anything changes. If your blinds are already booked with us, it's worth adding the curtains now so we can line the two up.

Made in New Zealand, covered for two years

Our curtains are made in New Zealand, and everything we install carries our 2 year full warranty:

  • The same cover on your curtains and your blinds

Follow-up maintenance and servicing is there after that too, from tracks and runners to re-hanging.

What customers say about working with us

Most of our customers are repeat or referred. The same owners measure your curtains and your blinds, and the same installer fits both.

The reviews below are about how we work: the measure, the advice and doing what we said we'd do.

"What I appreciated most is they took the time to really understand my requirements and ideas but also giving me tips and recommendations I did not think about. These guys are very professional, efficient, great work ethics and on time. You're not treated like a number, with Rollerflex you're a part of the family." Markus, October 2022

"High attention to detail throughout the quoting, manufacture and install processes. Offered tailored advice specific to our premises and requirements including addressing unusual window spaces, brought an appropriate selection of samples to view at our initial visit. We are delighted with the outcome. Highly recommend." Carolyn, May 2022

"Dealt with David for all the quotes and measurements and he was really prompt in his communication, friendly, professional and offered a competitive price. They gave us a timeframe and met it to the day ... So happy I chose them and would use them again if I needed to." Rebecca, January 2022

Curtain questions

Do you do curtains as well as blinds?

Yes. We measure, quote, supply and install curtains alongside roller and Roman blinds, from the same measure and with the same installer. We also do curtains on their own.

How does sheer plus blockout work?

Both curtains hang on a double track. The sheer sits closest to the glass for daytime privacy, and the blockout in front darkens the room at night. You draw whichever one you need.

Can you match curtains to my roller blinds?

Yes. We bring samples for both to your home, so you see the curtain fabric and your roller blinds together in your own light before you decide.

Can you give me a price from my sizes?

No. Curtains depend on the measure even more than blinds do, so we check every window in person first. The measure and quote are free in the Auckland area.

Do you have a showroom?

We bring the showroom to you, because samples seen beside your own walls, blinds and furniture tell you far more. Our Glenfield showroom is also open by appointment. Call or send us a message to book either.

How long do curtains take?

Four to five weeks from deposit to install. If your blinds are in the same order, we aim to fit everything on the same day once the curtains are ready.

Are your curtains made in New Zealand?

Yes, our curtains are made in New Zealand.

What warranty do you give?

Two years full, parts and labour, with no call-out fee and no labour charge. Maintenance and servicing are available after that too. See our warranty page.
